Síndrome de Burnout en profesionales de la educación: desafíos para el bienestar y el desempeño docente

Resumen

El síndrome de burnout constituye uno de los principales problemas de salud ocupacional que afectan actualmente a los profesionales de la educación y representa un desafío creciente para la calidad y la sostenibilidad de los sistemas educativos. El objetivo de este artículo fue analizar el síndrome de burnout en docentes mediante una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura científica reciente, examinando sus fundamentos conceptuales, factores de riesgo, consecuencias para el bienestar y el desempeño profesional, así como las principales estrategias de prevención e intervención. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó en bases de datos científicas internacionales y documentos de organismos especializados, priorizando investigaciones publicadas entre 2018 y 2026. La evidencia revisada demuestra que el burnout es un fenómeno multidimensional originado por la interacción entre elevadas demandas laborales, insuficiente apoyo organizacional, sobrecarga administrativa, limitadas oportunidades de desarrollo profesional y desequilibrios entre la vida laboral y personal. Asimismo, se identificó que el agotamiento docente repercute negativamente en la salud mental, la satisfacción laboral, el compromiso profesional, la calidad de la enseñanza y los resultados educativos. Los estudios analizados coinciden en que las intervenciones centradas exclusivamente en el individuo resultan insuficientes cuando no se acompañan de cambios estructurales en las instituciones educativas. En consecuencia, la prevención del burnout requiere políticas integrales que combinen el fortalecimiento de los recursos personales con estrategias organizacionales orientadas a mejorar las condiciones de trabajo, promover el bienestar docente y favorecer una educación de mayor calidad y sostenibilidad.
