Work exhaustion among university professors is a growing phenomenon influenced by workload, self-demand, and perfectionism. This quantitative, field-descriptive study analyzes the perceptions of 40 university professors regarding five variables: workload, self-demand and perfectionism, fatigue and mental health, recognition and support, and hyperactivity and productivity. The results show high levels of stress and exhaustion, affecting both personal well-being and professional performance. A Chi-Square analysis determined that there are no significant differences in work exhaustion perception based on age and gender. The study concludes that an institutional approach is necessary to mitigate exhaustion by promoting a healthier balance between productivity and well-being.
