The ability of students to recognize changes in the length and width characteristics of anterior teeth in various situations was found to be limited. The objective of this study was to identify the degree of accuracy with which students selected the correct option based on questions focused on dental length and width identification. Sixty-four second-semester students were included and evaluated through a Google Forms survey. The study followed a quantitative quasi-experimental methodology, technically controlling the variables of length and width in anterior teeth using Photoshop 2015, with identification questions related to these characteristics. The results showed significant variability in perceptions between female and male students, highlighting a preference for identifying teeth with larger length characteristics over those with shorter length in affirmative responses from both genders. However, for questions involving thin and short incisors versus wide and short incisors, the frequency of correct responses was limited. In conclusion, the study emphasizes the importance of improving clinical training so that students, by reasoning about dental length and width, develop a criterion more aligned with aesthetic standards.
