Quality management in higher education has been essential for enhancing institutional effectiveness and ensuring high-quality professional training. Therefore, the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes, Quevedo extension, has recognized the need to optimize its processes through the implementation of a comprehensive quality management system. In fact, this research has focused on improving the planning, execution, and evaluation of its educational programs by aligning with national and international standards. To this end, a quantitative and qualitative approach was adopted, combining documentary analysis, interviews with educational leaders, and direct observation of processes. Moreover, situational diagnoses were conducted to identify weaknesses, opportunities for improvement, and points of alignment with quality regulations. The results have revealed that implementing a system based on quality standards enhances the integration of substantive functions and fosters a more efficient academic environment. Furthermore, it enables greater program integration and a more effective response to the challenges of the educational landscape. In conclusion, it has been demonstrated that implementing a quality management system optimizes education at the Quevedo extension. Indeed, the active participation of all stakeholders has been highlighted as a priority, along with the necessity of ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement processes to maintain institutional quality standards. Thus, this contributes to the academic and professional development of students and strengthens their connection with society.
