The New Mexican School (NEM, in Spanish) proposes a model that fosters highly active, participatory students who generate their own meaningful learning. To this end, academic self-regulation becomes a key catalyst at the secondary level, as the level of maturity students have reached by then allows them to increasingly manage their own academic progress more effectively. To support this objective, it is expected that the internet, as a readily accessible resource for students in general, could be used to provide support materials that help them strengthen their self-regulation skills. An online search did not find abundant material produced at the secondary education level by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) on this topic, thus identifying an opportunity to offer materials on academic self-regulation through this channel to support any current efforts through other means. The direct benefits would be both short- and long-term, because self-regulation is an activity that can be applied to any present and future academic activity. In the short term, this would facilitate the achievement of the educational objectives of the New Mexican Education Model (NEM) and strengthen students' discipline, meaningful learning, responsibility, and self-control at the secondary level. In the long term, it would allow students to better approach their learning in further studies and in their professional lives.
