ABSTRACT
Formal and non-formal education are two concepts that describe different types of learning and educational processes. Both are important in the development of skills and knowledge in people, but they differ in their structure, objectives and context of application. In Mexico, both modalities have their distinctive characteristics and play important roles in the educational and social development of the population. The article reflects on formal and non-formal education in Mexico. Formal education provides a solid foundation of knowledge and skills essential to society, while non-formal education provides additional lifelong learning opportunities and allows for the development of specific skills beyond the traditional education system. Importantly, each type of education can complement and enrich a person's global learning, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
