The rescue of medicinal plants for use in the health of the population has been a form of care and healing since ancient times. In the case of Cuba, it has been preserved over time, and it can be said that knowledge of its use is appreciated in the generation comprised in the decade of 1950 to 1970 approximately. However, this is not the case in the current generation. Therefore, the following objective is presented: To develop theoretical and practical activities that allow the rescue of medicinal plants for their use in health. A qualitative approach method is used, the action-participation research method. The San Lázaro community is the geographical space used, with 118 inhabitants, who collaborated with their experience to the transfer of knowledge to the rest of the participants who also constituted the sample in the research project, made up of 14 students from 5th and 6th grade from the William Soler school, under the direction of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Cienfuegos. Theoretical and practical actions for the recovery of medicinal plants and their use in health represent an important avenue for addressing diseases that so affect the population of countries like Cuba. This allowed for the communication of this knowledge through university-school-community ties.
