Literature is not only a means of entertainment but also an educational tool that fosters critical thinking, empathy, and an understanding of diverse cultures and historical periods. Through literary analysis, students develop skills to interpret complex themes, ambiguous characters, and intricate plots, allowing them to better understand the world and express themselves effectively. At the pre-university level, figures of speech are essential for the appreciation and understanding of literature. They enrich literary language, allow students to delve into the hidden meanings of texts, and establish a dialogue between author and reader. It is essential that students understand and utilize figures of speech as mechanisms that enhance meaning and engage the reader's imagination, allowing them to use them creatively in their own texts. The teaching of literature, therefore, must foster critical and creative thinking, providing students with the necessary tools to interpret and appreciate literary works in all their complexity.
