Violence against women under Ecuadorian law. Educational applications

Violence against women is a latent phenomenon today. It is a problem that must be addressed from multiple disciplines, such as sociology, law, psychology, criminology, among others. The United Nations estimates that at least 1 in 3 women worldwide has been a victim of violence against them. Therefore, this paper addresses domestic violence from the perspective of Ecuadorian legislation. It also addresses the issue of prevention and some public policy proposals to address this latent phenomenon. It should be emphasized that merely criminalizing the behavior is not enough to address a problem rooted in society. Its educational applications in the Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Forensic Sciences at the Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador, are also analyzed.
